AK Consultants in association with Hocking et al and Agricultural Resource Management delivered 42 Salinity Management Plans in the National Action Plan area of Tasmania for NRM North. The objective of the plans was to document the assessed salinity risks under current land use, and the potential impacts of irrigation.
David Armstrong coordinated the Land Degradation and Salinity Risk project for the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment, Tasmania. This project involved a number of DPIPWE and other investigators to consider the potential impacts of more intensive land use, particularly irrigated cropping, on environmental sustainability.
A number of training courses on salinity management were conducted for farmers under the Best Practice Salinity Management Project.
